One year after Emily Cheung, Shake To Win Founder had set out to discover Brabant, Netherlands. Brabant was the place of birth of the post-impressionist artist Van Gogh; he lived a significant part of his life here. Emily has always been interested in art and travel.

Emily’s motivation to connect the Chinese Independent Travelers to undiscovered places set her out to discovering and retracing unique and iconic places representative to the artist, Van Gogh’s life.

She arrived in Brabant on a self-paid trip to know a bit more about the life of Van Gogh and what better place to start than in his birthplace in the year 1853. When she arrived, she contacted Visit Brabant which had complete information about the life and history of Van Gogh in the city, and they were happy to share with Emily this story. With her discovery, Emily was surprised Brabant was not more popular amongst her Chinese friends and collogues. Quickly understood the importance of sharing these undiscovered or less traveled places to preserve culture. Since then the Brabant Partnership has grown stronger, adding more spots to our network, working toward safeguarding culture.

In Brabant, you can enjoy a full complete Van Gogh bike tour. It takes you through five different Brabant municipalities that all connect to Van Gogh’s life: Zundert, Tilburg, Etten-Leur, Nuenen and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The Van Gogh House in Zundert holds many memories of Vincent Van Gogh’s younger years. In this place, you can picture yourself being part of the Van Gogh family.

Aside from being a significant place to understand Van Gogh and his work, Brabant is also an extraordinary place for museums, monuments, and nature. Some of our personal favorites are our newest Brabant Partner, Heeswijk Castle. The castle is located near Heeswijk in the north of Brabant province. The Castel was built in the 11th century and later reported in 2006. Today the castle is a museum showcasing a glimpse into the medieval era.
